Former Bryan mayor Jay Don Watson and his son, J. Davis Watson, recently established their own law firm in Bryan.

Watson Law Firm, LLP., specializes in business, real estate, probate and personal injury law.

Both Watsons were partners in the law firm of Payne, Watson, Miller, Malechek & Scherr, P.C., a Bryan practice established in 1947. Jay Don Watson served as president of Payne Watson before moving a few blocks to 2100 E. Villa Maria Road, Suite 102.

“Davis and I are extremely excited about this new venture and the opportunity to truly compliment each others’ practice areas,” Jay Don Watson said. “We will continue to provide our clients with high-level, efficient and effective legal services.”

Jay Don Watson received his law degree from Baylor Law School in 1969 and was licensed to practice in Texas later that same year after making the highest grade on the Bar Exam. He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the areas of Commercial Real Estate Law, Farm and Ranch Law and Residential Real Estate Law.

His practice focuses on representing lenders, developers and contractors in all types of real estate and related transactions, including but not limited to preparation and documentation of loan transactions, development of subdivisions, town home projects, acquisition and sale of real estate, subdivisions, apartments, office buildings, warehouses and similar assets and businesses.
